About Us
Hi, I'm Julie! Baking has been my passion since I was a kid, starting in the kitchen with my grandmother. By 15, I was working in the food service industry, and at 18, I headed to Johnson & Wales University, where I earned my degree in Baking & Pastry Arts. While in college, I held two part-time baking jobs, gaining knowledge and skills from everyone I worked with.
In 2005, I opened my first bakery, which quickly became the community's go-to spot for cakes and pastries. I had the joy of creating beautiful wedding cakes. After moving across the Bay Bridge in 2022, I closed my bakery and joined a lovely bakery in Severna Park, which unfortunately closed in May 2023. With a strong desire to continue bringing homemade sweetness to the community, I decided to open Sweeter Side Bakeshop.
Sweeter Side Bakeshop is all about bringing the community together with delicious homemade treats in a warm and inviting environment. Our open kitchen lets you see your goodies come to life, and we’re thrilled to supply local restaurants with our baked goods. Our tagline, “Live Life on the... Sweeter Side,” reflects our commitment to making every day a little sweeter for our customers.
Outside the bakery, I love spending time with family and friends, planning parties, and going on off-roading adventures with my husband in our Jeep. I also enjoy scrapbooking and playing with our two dogs, Miles and Hazel. And just for fun—my favorite cake flavor is Boston Cream!
Hi there! I'm Kacee! My love for baking began in high school when I enrolled in a vocational baking and pastry program. Initially, I was drawn to cosmetology, but baking kept calling my name, and I knew it was the right path for me! After three years, I graduated from the program and have since worked in a variety of bakeries—from large bulk stores to small local shops, and even high-end bistros. Each experience has allowed me to refine my skills and deepen my passion for the craft.

I met Julie while working at a small bakery in Severna Park, which unfortunately closed in May 2023. We couldn't bear to let our community go without its beloved sweets, so we immediately started planning. That's how Sweeter Side Bakeshop was born! We're thrilled to share our handmade, freshly baked goodies with the neighborhoods and communities we love.

When I'm not in the kitchen, you'll find me sipping on iced coffee, playing video games with friends, or napping with my dog, Charlee, and my cat, Bentley.

While I’m a huge fan of extra-extra coffee, my favorite cake flavor has to be melon—it's such a light, sweet, and refreshing taste, especially in the springtime.
